Know your value

A popular orator began his speech by holding up a $20 banknote. A crowd of 300 had assembled there to hear his speech.

He asked, “How many of you need this $20 note?”

Obviously, all 300 people raised their hands

He then folded the note and asked “Who needs it now?”

Now also all 300 hands went up.

“Alright”, he replied, “Let’s see how you respond to my next move”. He dropped the note on the ground and trampled on it with his shoes.

He took the note and showed it to the crowd. Now it looked more crumbled and dirty.

He asked” How many of you still need it?”

Everyone raised their hands this time as well.

He justified his action like this

“My friends, I have just shown you a very important lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, life crumples us and grinds us into the dirt. We make bad decisions or deal with poor circumstances. We feel worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. You are special – Don’t ever forget it!”

This story would be a good inspiration for students during their school days.

Forget your Worries!

A psychologist was talking to a group of people on tackling difficult situations in life. He walked around the room and raised a glass of water facing the audience. Everyone expected a typical question, but to their surprise, he asked a different question.

He asked “Can you say how heavy this glass of water is?”

Many of them guessed its weight and gave different answers.

The psychologist replied,” Now, all of you give me different weights as answers. In fact, the actual weight doesn’t matter. It depends on the time that I hold this glass of water. It’s not at all a problem, if I hold it for a couple of minutes. But I may feel pain in my arm, if I hold it for an hour. Definitely my arm will feel insensitive, if I hold it for the whole day. So, the weight of the glass doesn’t matter in each case. But the pain becomes heavier the longer you hold the glass.”

He gave a further explanation for this. He added “The problems of your life are just like that glass of water. If you think about your problem for the whole day, you will feel depressed and unable to do productive things in your life. So, don’t carry your worries, it may ruin you. Forget your worries and enjoy life! ”
